
PJ Adamson,
composer, arranger, steel panist and percussionist, has performed extensively
throughout the United States, Isael, Italy, Thailand, Canada, and the Caribbean.
He is credited as one of the pioneers in integrating the steel pan with
conventional instruments. PJ’s musical compositions fuse rhythms of the
Caribbean with other musical genres, including jazz, classical, R&B,
hip-hop, popular and gospel music.
Born in Trinidad, West Indies, PJ has performed and recorded with a very diverse
group of artists including Bobby Brown,Eric Gale, Stan Strickland, Bob Moses,
Mozamba and Calypso Hurricane. He was a member of the cast and orchestra of
ART’s and AMTF’s production of “Steel” by Derek Walcott and Galt
MacDermot. PJ also lectures on the history of the steel pan and its impact on
Caribbean and American culture, and teaches pan approach, style, and methods.
